About
We all love a good fictional superhero, they can shrink down to the quantum realm or jump over a building in a single bound. Real scientists, real people, have just as amazing powers! Scientists can see individual atoms within a molecule, read the DNA of a single cell in a tumor, and peer back in time to when black holes collided. They have saved millions of lives through their research and technological advances and are solving questions today that people have asked for millennia.
SuperScientists was developed to inspire young people and help them see themselves in the faces and life stories of scientists working today. SuperScientists makes learning hands-on and fun, while providing rich information about science and scientists to people young and old.
As a project of the South African non-profit CodeMakers, we have seen how young people want access to knowledge, need to see people that reflect themselves and can do amazing things when they have resources.

We have worked with a number of fabulous artists to create this project
The Hidden Hand Studios is making our NFVF funded animation pilot. They have a great group of young artists and animators. Ross Lelliott (Director of Blood of a Fellow) is directing and Lesego Vorster (A Director on Kizazi Moto) is the art director.
Clyde Beech drew our comic, designed and illustrated our museum exhibit, and drew many of most popular characters. He’s a well known comic artist formerly at Supa Strikas and is part of the team behind Kwezi.
Hero In My Hood made our activity book, came up with so many of the ideas and are a great group to work with.
Venus Bambisa took time out of making his comics and characters to draw 4 characters for us including our first Ghanaian SuperScientist - The Founder, Dr Yaw Bediako.
Curtis Bonhomme is an illustrator and animator who made our card layout and helped make this idea a reality. He has drawn over 30 of our characters including those in our activity book for younger learners. A huge thanks to him!
